Baby Ballet Prague
Company of Dance Center Prague Conservatorie

Baby Ballet Prague - a school chamber company, formed out of the 16 best students from the lower conservatory classes (3rd - 5th year students of the eight year study, age 13 - 16), was established in December 2003. The core repertory - now more than 20 dance pieces of two and half hours in length - has been developed above all while studying selective repertory in such subjects like classical, modern and folk dance, and is enriched by choreographic etudes from the complementary fields like dance sport, tap dance etc. In 2008 we produced the first full length children ballet "Dance of the Deep Forest" - the sole project also within the European context - which moves further our production possibilities as well as abilities of the youngest interpreters - the future "stars".
Musical component of core choreographies is manifold, too - from Johann Sebastian Bach to John Cage - which means that from the core repertory we are able to build a composed programme made to measure to any actual event or dramaturgical task. Within a frame of extensive stage praxis the company participates in prestigious artistic projects (cooperation with Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra in Rudolphinum), and also in interesting motivating sport and social events (Gala opening of a sports hall, Show dance at a town ball in our partner region, Review of Elementary Art Schools, Gala performance at a Dance Sport Championship …).

Company programme encompass some 20 performances a season including the educational performance for schools "How a dancer is made" and further dance projects appropriate for this age and efficiency category. Dance Centre Prague Conservatory thus presents its opinion on the development of modern art education and future qualities of dance theatre.
The quality "children" ensemble compounds of successful adepts of professional art studio - based on youthful enthusiasm, virtuous ambitions and extraordinary energy - and can create very interesting and original dramaturgy, above all there, where traditional companies cannot for diverse reasons function. Its interpreters can address theatre-goers of related age far more effectively than unapproachable adult stars and can motivate them to active and long lasting interest in dance and theatre; they can lead them to a healthy life style and right intellectual development.
Low costs and simpler production and technical specifications open its way to smaller regional theatres and culture centres … even further straight to school gyms and sports halls. The ensemble is very mobile and can also react to social and commercial demands outside theatre premises.
